A vinyl record will always give a more natural, richer sound than any digital alternative. They were, after all, cut directly from the original recording tapes with no alterations.
Unfortunately, vinyl is a fragile medium - especially prone to dust and scratches. Always handle records carefully by the edge and keep them in their inner sleeves (polylined are best) to protect them from dust.
Loricraft PRC3
We can't do anything about scratched records, but we do offer a record cleaning service with our Loricraft PRC3 cleaning machine (pictured). The Loricraft range of machines are robust and efficient, with a custom designed pump which sucks at the rate of 16.5 litres per minute. Alcohol -free cleaning fluid is spread thinly over the surface of the record using a special brush. The vacuum arm then traverses the record removing liquid, dissolved and suspended solids, and dirt from deep within the groove.
The results are immediately apparent with a dramatic improvement in playback clarity and resolution.
The cost of this service is £2.00 per record - and we also provide a new polylined sleeve as well!
You can either bring your records to our shop in Liskeard, or send them by post (Recorded Delivery recommended) including your remittance covering the cost of cleaning, together with the cost of return postage at £3.00 for the first record and 75p for each additional record. We attempt to clean records within 2 working days and will send them back to you by Recorded Delivery.
If you want a large number of records cleaned (i.e. 10 or more), please contact us first - as it may prove cheaper (and safer) to use our courier service.
